For most of 2009 and 2010, I spent my time running Marketing with Outright.com. Perhaps the most brilliant application in finance since Turbo Tax, Outright.com makes accounting simple for the simplest of businesses. If you work for yourself, sign up for Outright.com.
I joined the team following their earliest round, led by First Round Capital, Shasta Ventures, SoftTech VC, and Felicis Ventures, and brought them through a Series A with Sequoia Capital. Responsible for customer acquisition and the story behind Outright, I’m excited to have been a pivotal part in everything from search and social marketing to PR and event marketing.
Most exciting was my role in the development of Outright’s online community. A custom platform built in WordPress and an open source version of Stack Exchange called Solace, and optimized for SEO, user generated content, and game theory. During my time with Outright.com we led guerrilla marketing programs such as the Unintentional Entrepreneur, leveraged marketing relationships with members of The Small Business Web, and experienced exponential growth and adoption of simple online accounting.
