As I was contemplating the design of my own blog this morning, it struck me as amusing that I always get served eye candy ads for John Q TV. Assuming AdBrite’s targeting technology is working, clearly, I may be revealing embarrassing information about my behavior but I don’t spend time surfing babe websites and therefore must conclude one of two things: AdBrite’s targeting is terribly deficient or the closest match they can make on remnant inventory is a demographic match as Male 30 something = scantily clad women TV station.
Assuming THAT’s the case I may be sharing too much information with you as many of my readers may not see the same ads. Just the same, rather than pulling the advertiser since, heck, they are paying me, I’m making a plea to my constituents who advertise their respective agencies, blogs, and consultancies: buy my audience! Give me something else to consider please! Give my readers some contextually relevant advertising! Take these scantily clad women off my site!! I’m running remnant inventory so it much be cheap right?? Sorry, I should know better, I used to sell media: must be “inexpensive” right? Thousands of subscribers, hit the homepage of Digg on occasion, and who wouldn’t want to associate their brand with that smiling grin at the top of the blog??
